K atia Aveiro took to social media to talk about the video being shared on social media showing a man, who has already been identified as a firefighter from Machico, on the island of Madeira, assaulting his wife in front of their son.
Being news from her homeland and a subject that means a lot to her, since it is public knowledge that her mother, Dolores Aveiro, suffered domestic violence, Katia felt she had something to say about this very delicate moment.
"Anyone who knows my family's history, especially my mother's, knows that we children witnessed domestic violence.
It used to be very common to see these kinds of situations. Men who drank and were violent towards women. I grew up amidst this violence.
"This triggers some emotions, especially for those who witnessed this type of violence at home. Fortunately, I've overcome this, and I believe my brothers have too.
I'm speaking as a woman and as a wife. It's unbelievable that this kind of situation still happens today, and it saddens me. Because of the situation itself, the violence against the woman, but also the boy screaming at his father not to hit his mother.
It's good that there are images, I hope that, as a woman and as a citizen, justice will be done," reveals Katia Aveiro.
The businesswoman then reveals that she hopes that mother and son can get out of this situation in the best possible way.
"I hope the boy can recover from the trauma and that his mother becomes stronger, that she looks at this situation and can turn it around. It must not be easy. I hope she loves herself and can get back on her feet.
"May she be able to forgive this cowardly, weak, and feigned human being. I say forgive so she doesn't carry this feeling of revolt. This man doesn't deserve her," reveals Katia Aveiro.
At the end of the video, Cristiano Ronaldo's sister also appeals to women who go through this type of situation to find the strength to leave these relationships.
